Christ Church, Oxford University

Founded in 1524, Christ Church is one of Oxford University’s most famous and prestigious colleges. It has a fascinating history and many distinguished people have studied here including 13 British Prime Ministers. Christ Church today is a busy academic community with about 450 undergraduates and 150 graduate students. It enjoys a great location in the heart of Oxford, close to the city’s main attractions and shopping area and next to the beautiful Christ Church meadow.

Course

The Intensive Academic English Course is for students aged 16-19 and is designed to prepare highly motivated international students who are considering a degree course at an English-speaking university. The course comprises 22.5 hours of group tuition in English for Academic Purposes and 4.5 hours of lectures per week covering topics such as economics, music, art, literature and global issues. It includes academic writing, reading, listening and speaking and study skills including critical thinking.

Accommodation

The residential accommodation is in single ensuite bedrooms in the modern but quiet Blue Boar Quad. The “Harry Potter” dining hall is located on the main Tom Quad together with the classroom block and the lecture hall. Also on Tom Quad is the Student Common Room, which is open all day for students to relax and socialise with their new friends. It is also home to the College’s summer internet café. Evening activities will be held in the recently refurbished Undercroft Bar, which provides an ideal location for a range of indoor games and social activities.
