Start your degree with Central Washington University’s UESL Program Welcome to Central Washington University (CWU), a public comprehensive university located in Ellensburg, Washington. CWU offers a wide-range of undergraduate and graduate degrees in the applied sciences, business and the arts. There are about 10,000 students at CWU including almost 500 international students from more than 40 different countries. Conditional admission to undergraduate programs at CWU is possible through the UESL (University English as a Second Language) Program. Students who complete our program can enter undergraduate programs at CWU without a TOEFL or IELTS score. International students are eligible for a reduction in tuition costs based on their academic performance upon entering and during their time at CWU.

The UESL Program The UESL Program provides challenging language learning opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom. Whether it is to prepare students for admission to American colleges or universities, to improve English language skills, or to further one's professional career, students at UESL will receive high quality, caring instruction from professional English instructors. Students can take part in many interesting trips organized by the UESL Program. In the past, favorite trips included visiting cosmopolitan Seattle, scenic Leavenworth, local museums, the nearby mountains for hiking and skiing, and the Columbia River for sightseeing. The Mission of Central Washington University’s UESL Program is to provide high-quality English language instruction, university preparation, and student services in a supportive, respectful environment; to help students meet their personal, professional, and academic goals; to foster global understanding, sensitivity, and engagement; to enhance CWU’s diversity.
