University of Exeter
The University of Exeter is one of the most popular universities in the UK, and prides itself on providing a quality educational and life experience in what is generally agreed to be the most beautiful campus in the country. With just over 11,000 students, of whom 3,200 are postgraduates, the university is large enough to provide excellent facilities and a lively atmosphere, but not so big that one will become just another face in the crowd. The location in the South West is also difficult to beat--Exeter is consistently rated as one of the best places to live in the UK, and it is surrounded by outstanding natural beauty, including glorious beaches and breathtaking national parks.

Academic Study at Exeter
The University of Exeter, which received its Royal Charter in 1955, offers a full range of programmes at undergraduate, masters and research levels across a wide range of disciplines. Having an excellent reputation for teaching and research, the university is committed to maintaining its high standards. To date, the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) has rated the university 'Excellent' for teaching quality in 14 different schools. The Schools of Business and Computer Science are both ranked in the top 10 in the UK, and 62% of our departments have a national or international reputation in research. A few of the schools at which students may study are:

School of Business and Economics School of Biological Sciences
Camborne School of Mines School of Chemistry
School of Classics and Theology School of Drama and Music
School of Engineering and Computer Science School of Education
School of Geography and Archaeology School of English
School of Historical, Political and Sociological Studies School of Law
School of Mathematical Sciences School of Modern Languages
Peninsula Medical School School of Physics
School of Sport and Health Sciences School of Psychology

Foundation Programme
The University of Exeter also offers a foundation programme for international students who have completed high school, but do not yet meet the requirements for undergraduate study in the UK. Successful completion of this programme will provide students with the necessary language and subject requirements for study at the undergraduate level.

Study Abroad (JYA) Programme
The University of Exeter has been operating a Study Abroad (JYA) Programme for the benefit of students around the world for many years. Partnerships with colleges and universities in North America continue to be the backbone of the programme, but there are also a number of exchange students participating from universities in Australia and, more recently, Japan. Unlike many British universities, the University of Exeter does not charge the full fee normally associated with international students studying for a degree, but prefer to charge less, on the grounds that participation in the Study Abroad Programme does not lead to an Exeter qualification.

Accommodation
The University of Exeter guarantees to offer accommodation to all (unaccompanied) international students for the duration of their studies. There are approximately 4,200 places for both postgraduates and undergraduates in fully catered halls of residence and self-catering flats. The majority of rooms are located either on campus or close by, within easy walking distance of teaching buildings and the city center, and are networked with phone and data connection points.
Undergraduate students are encouraged to live in Halls of Residence for the first year, as it is a great way to make new friends and students will be provided with 3 meals a day, 7 days a week.

English Language Centre
The English Language Centre at Exeter offers a variety of courses throughout the year for both students and teachers of English. While many students take courses in Academic English as preparation for studying other subjects at Exeter or other Universities in Britain, others study general English before returning to jobs or studies in their own countries. For overseas teachers of English, courses are provided to help them develop their teaching skills and improve their own usage of the English language. Most English modules are credit-rated, and can be taken with other courses in other departments as part of a JYA programme. Courses range in length from four weeks to the full academic year.
