Seisen International School is a Catholic, day school which has been serving the needs of the
international community for over 40 years. We believe that students of all races,
nationalities and creeds can thrive in its Christian atmosphere. High expectations are held
for both character development and academic achievement as students are nurtured toward
futures in higher education, careers and the family.
Grades 1-12 are for girls only but our kindergarten is co-educational. The school presently has an
enrolment of approximately 700 students from 60 different nationalities. Seisen is operated by the
Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and is accredited by the Council of International Schools
(CIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).
Seisen offers a Montessori kindergarten which is designed to take full advantage of young children's
motivation and their sensitivity to their environment. The Montessori equipment helps in the development
of concentration, co-ordination, good working habits and basic skills according to each child's
capacity in a non-competitive atmosphere.
Currently, Seisen's Elementary School holds candidate status for the Primary Years Program (PYP).
The Elementary School provides an environment where students are encouraged to be thinkers and
inquirers and find ways to problem solve. The teachers serve as facilitators and provide the
necessary coaching, information, and strategies to promote high-quality learning. Elementary
level Language Arts and Mathematics are taught as "stand alone" subjects. Music, Art and
Japanese language study are integral components of the elementary curriculum.
The High School program is designed to meet the needs of young women who may find themselves
living almost anywhere in the world. To fully serve the needs of a university bound,
international student body Seisen offers IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary
Education) classes as well as an IB (International Baccalaureate) Diploma program. A
college adviser helps students in college selection and career orientation.
