Listed as Britain's best modern university in The Times Good University Guide 2006, Northumbria University
offers a high standard of teaching, excellent facilities and a supportive environment for international students.
Northumbria's campus is located in the popular student city of Newcastle; a wonderful city with a population of
275,000. Known as the capital of England's North East, it has a dramatic location on the River Tyne near the East
Coast and lies at the heart of one of Britain's most beautiful and historic regions. Voted one of the world's top
spots for nightlife, Newcastle is a great place to be a student.
Northumbria is one of Britain's largest modern universities, with around 25,000 students, including approximately
3,000 international students. The University has strong links with industry, and courses are designed to prepare
students for successful careers. Many degrees are also officially recognised by professional bodies.
Northumbria offers over 500 courses at foundation, undergraduate, undergraduate "top-up", and postgraduate level.
In a recent study by the Financial Times based on government figures, Northumbria came top for helping students
to stay the course and to get better qualifications. International students have free access to a wide range of
facilities and specialist services during their time at the University.

Many of our courses will prepare you directly for a job and include a substantial amount of work experience.
Our lecturers are among the best in the country and we¡Çre officially related ¡Æexcellent¡Ç. Our Teaching
Quality Assessment (TQA), which is the result of inspections by the UK government¡Çs Quality Assurance
Agency for Higher Education, scores us at an average of 22.1. This grading places Northumbria University
in the same league as the University of Edinburgh and University College, London (The Times, 2003).

Accommodation |

The University provides accommodation in its own Halls if Residence, with or
without meals, in self-catering flats for groups of students sharing. The University also has letting or
management arrangements with private owners and housing associations.
There is a free Meet-and-Greet service available for all new international students arriving at Newcastle International Airport.
