 If you are serious about learning English and you want to immerse
yourself in the language and culture of Canada, then Camber College is for you!
The academic program at Camber College is intensive with Academic
and Business English classes each morning. In the afternoon we offer a variety
of electives, designed to help students focus on areas they most wish to
improve, like writing, conversation, reading, listening and pronunciation.
Powell River is a small, friendly community of around 17,000
people. Because it is so small, there are many opportunities for students to get
out and mingle with the public at community events. In Powell River you will
have the chance to become friends with Canadians so you can practice speaking

About Powell River
|
 Powell River is a beautiful coastal community in BC, Canada. We are about 145
kilometres north of Vancouver - a short 25-minute flight from Vancouver's
international airport, or a leisurely drive, including two scenic ferry rides,
from the city. Powell River has a lot to offer visitors. It was named a Cultural
Capital of Canada for 2004.
SAFETY
Powell River is a very safe place to live. When you are in Powell River, you
will experience a sense of security that is becoming increasingly rare in the
world - even in big Canadian cities like Vancouver. You don't need to look over
your shoulder all the time. There are no gates, no guards. Why? Because you are
safe here. There is almost no crime at all in Powell River, and even less
violent crime.

CLIMATE
The climate in Powell River is the mildest in all of Canada - they don't call it
the Sunshine Coast for nothing! We have the most sun, the least rain, and
moderate temperatures year-round.

Our home stay families are warm, welcoming people
who look forward to the opportunity to share their lives and their town with
you. All our home stay families are native
English speakers who help students to improve their English skills through
constant, practical use. Most of our home
stays are located within walking distance of the school, and are also on the
main bus routes.
