Introduction

Switzerland has a long established

been educated in this beautiful and safe country. Established in 1985, HIM, Hotel Institute Montreux, was one of
Switzerland's first schools to offer hotel management programmes in English.
Since then, HIM has grown considerably and is today considered one of Switzerland's finest and best known Hotel
Management Schools. In two modern campuses in the unique city centre location of metropolitan Montreux we offer
high quality academic programmes and exceptional facilities.

HIM offers a spectrum of programmes, giving students the choice of an academic path to satisfy their individual abilities and needs:
Main Programmes
- Diploma and Higher Diploma in International Hotel Management
- American BBA Degree (Dual Major) in Business Management & Hotel, Restaurant and Resort Management
Postgraduate Programmes
- PG Diploma in Hotel Management or Hotel Operations Management
English Preparation Programme
- Students whose level of English is below the requirements for the selected programme can join the 4 to 16 week
English Preparation Programme. Each week includes 25 hours of intensive English teaching.

Diploma and Higher Diploma in International Hotel Management |
For High School Graduates, HIM offers a Diploma or Higher Diploma Programme in International Hotel Management.
After successful completion of the Higher Diploma, students can progress into the BA Degree and then the MA Degree programme.
The programmes centre around the three key management areas which are essential in the hospitality industry:
- Human Resource Management
- Finance
- Marketing
HIM programmes also include some practical subjects such as Food and Beverage Service and Front Office.
Since our students are prepared and trained for high-end management positions, we do not, like similar Swiss institutions,
include a food production practical (kitchen) or housekeeping practical. These subjects are covered in theoretical lessons
in the classroom including many demonstrations.

American BBA Degree |
After successful completion of the HIM Higher Diploma programme students can progress into the American BBA
Degree (Dual Major) in Business and Hotel, Restaurant & Resort Management. The BBA top-up Degree is offered
in cooperation with Northwood University, a top ranking private American business school with nearly 50 years
of experience. The Northwood BBA Degree gives you the competitive edge to succeed.
The BBA programme offered at HIM is comprised of 12 courses which focus on business and hotel management.
It is fully accredited and internationally recognised. The high quality, 5 month intensive education in
practical management and entrepreneurship is different from other degree programmes which favour liberal
arts, so our graduates truly stand out from the crowd. Unique to Northwood is that 90% of the students
tend to graduate with jobs and one out of four graduates become successful business owners.
Today, Northwood boasts of over 100,000 in the alumni network, who are making business work and their
education pay off around the globe. Many alumni have confirmed that the BBA degree sets the foundations

Two Spectacular Campuses |
 HIM is housed in two former hotels, the "Europe" and "Miramonte", both of
which have been fully renovated and equipped to provide state of the art learning facilities.
The central location of "Hotel Europe" and "Hotel Miramonte" makes student life very convenient:
the main train station, the post office, shopping centres, coffee shops, restaurants and pubs
and the famous "Quai des Fleurs" are all within five minutes walking distance of the school.
The HIM Academic Center is located in the building next to HIM, "Hotel Europe". The LRC,
Learning and Resource Center as well as the GCC, Graduate Career Center can be reached
within two minutes walking distance from "Hotel Europe".
