| Master of Laws in American Legal Studies |

The Seattle University School of Law is pleased to introduce its first graduate program,
the Master of Laws (LL.M.) in American Legal Studies. The inaugural class began in fall 2003.
|
About the Program |
|
 The
Master of Laws in American Legal Studies is designed for students who have received their law degrees from institutions
outside of the United States, and who now wish to study the American legal system in furtherance of their careers in law,
business or international affairs. It is a one-year, 24-credit program. Of that total, students will be
required to take a 2 to 3-credit introductory course in American Law and to fulfill a legal writing requirement.
As they design the remainder of their course of study, LL.M. students will have the opportunity to avail themselves
of the broad range of subjects represented in the School of Law's curriculum.
The program will admit 12-15 students a year. The relatively small program allows the
law school to pay individual attention to each participant.
For information regarding tuition, the application process, and the Seattle
Metropolitan area, please refer to the links at the bottom of this page.

About Seattle University School of Law |
|
 Founded 30 years ago,
the Seattle University School of Law's mission is to prepare students for a lifetime in the law at the service of justice.
Such preparation involves a solid grounding in the fundamentals of law and legal doctrine and a life-long inquiry in what
impact the law has on society.
Our students come from all walks of life and all parts of the United States.
Our faculty is one of the most diverse in the country and knows first-hand the importance of understanding and taking
into account many points of view. Many enjoy national reputations in specific fields of scholarship. At the same time,
the School of Law faculty take teaching responsibilities seriously, and spend a substantial amount of time seeking ways
to make the classroom experience both challenging and informative.
Prospective LL.M. students will be specifically interested in the law school's
well-regarded Legal Writing program, the Law Library (to explore the library, follow the link to the virtual tour),
and the law school's resource on housing information.
The law school is part of a wider university of 6,300 undergraduate and graduate students.
Seattle University offers 24 graduate programs in business, education, nursing and theology. Students from the law school
are able to take courses in the other schools of the university.

About Seattle |
|
 The law school
benefits greatly from its location in Seattle. Seattle enjoys a stunning natural setting, with the Cascade Mountains to the east,
Mt. Rainier to the south, and the Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains to the west. The greater Seattle metropolitan area
is home to over 2.5 million people and has a national and international reputation as a center for the software, aerospace
and internet retail industries, as well as for more traditional industries. At the same time it has a strong
counter-culture and some of the most vocal critics of globalization. It is increasingly cosmopolitan, with persons of
all nationalities settling here. It has a lively arts community. Yet for all of its growing size and sophistication,
Seattle remains an accessible and accommodating city.
