| Schulich School of Business |
|
For
more than 35 years, the Schulich School of Business at York University
(formerly the Faculty of Administrative Studies) has focused on
business education that graduates men and women who will succeed
throughout their careers in a complex and constantly changing world.
Founded in 1966 in Toronto, Canada's corporate center, Schulich
has built a strong reputation, both at home and abroad, for richly
diverse, creative, real-world programs at the undergraduate, graduate,
postgraduate and executive education levels. These include Canada's
first International MBA program (IMBA), as well as the country's
first comprehensive offerings in areas such as Financial Services,
Real Property Management, and the Arts and Media Administration.
Schulich offers flexible year-round
studies and one of the broadest ranges of business degrees and degree
specialization of any business school in North America. As a result,
students become strong generalists, and take advantage of Schulich's
wide-ranging specializing options. Schulich graduates build successful
careers in the private, public and nonprofit sectors.
Schulich's faculty include award-winning
teachers, authors and pioneers in their respective fields. Faculty
research is a blend of rigour and relevance, as well as national
and international issues.
|
| MBA |
Schulich's diverse, innovative and
highly relevant MBA develops strong management generalists with specialized
skills and knowledge in foundations of management, specific industries
or special topics. Interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
are emphasized. MBAs complete an applied six-month group strategic
analysis of a real organization. Flexible study options include academic
exchange overseas. Career paths lead to the private, public and nonprofit
sectors. Schulich faculty is composed of distinguished educators and
creative researchers.
|
| The Joint Kellogg-Schulich Executive MBA - EMBA |
It's the first Executive MBA (EMBA)
of its kind in North America. Combining the strengths of the Kellogg
Graduate School of Management (Northwestern University in Chicago)
with those of the Schulich School of Business (York University in
Toronto), the new EMBA will emphasize US, Canadian and international
perspectives on global leadership and strategic management.
|
| International Master of Business Administration - IMBA |
The IMBA's unique features include
international business content; foreign language study; specialization
in Asia; Europe or the Americas; an overseas study term; a work internship
abroad; and a network of close to 400 graduates in leading corporations
around the globe.
|
| Joint MBA / LLB Degrees |
|
Schulich and York's Osgoode Hall Law
School offer a four-year joint program leading to joint Master of
Business Administration (MBA) and Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degrees.
Graduates from this highly challenging
program follow career paths in which business and law overlap. Students
normally specialize in some business/law combination such as environmental
law/business management; economic regulation; finance; international
business; corporate/commercial; corporate tax; labour law/labour
relations; public administration; and real property development.
Regardless of their proposed career path, students should always
ensure sufficient breadth in their legal studies to prepare for
the Bar Admissions Course and the demands of a legal career.
|
| Joint MBA / MFA and MBA / MA Degrees |
|
Schulich and York's Faculty of Fine
Arts have established a three-year joint degree program leading
to a Master of Business Administration (MBA) combined with a Master
of Fine Arts (MFA) or Master of Arts (MA) in fine arts.
Students can enrol in one of two
fine arts streams for the joint program. The areas of fine arts
specialization within the MBA/MFA stream are visual arts, theatre
or film. The areas of specialization within the MBA/MA stream are
art history, dance or music.
Graduates of either stream will follow
career paths in which knowledge of the arts and of management and
business are required. The business and arts components of the MBA
and MFA (or MA) complement each other in focus and offer excellent
preparation for those interested in management careers in the arts
and cultural sectors.
|
| Master of Public Administration - MPA |
|
With continuing government downsizing,
the professional requirements for success in the public sector are
increasing rapidly. York's restructured Master of Public Administration
(MPA) degree provides a unique combination of management education,
program analysis and evaluation, and public policy analysis and
development. In designing and developing the MPA program, Schulich
has joined forces with members of York University's Political Science
Department.
|
| International Students |
|
The
School welcomes international students as valued members of its
BBA/iBBA, MBA, IMBA, MBA/LLB, MPA, MFA/MBA and PhD programs. Many
come to Schulich on exchange from partner business schools around
the world. Schulich's student-run Schulich International Committee
helps international students adjust to living and studying in Toronto,
Canada's most cosmopolitan city. As well, Schulich's own Student
Services & International Relations offers counseling, academic
advising and support services, help with housing, and advising on
visa procedures. Before applying, international students should
check English language proficiency and Canadian immigration requirements,
as well as international student fees.
Students have the opportunity to
pursue rewarding careers in a wide range of endeavours, both in
Canada and around the world. Students can take advantage of our
exchange partners, our extensive global linkages to corporate recruiters,
our close industry connections and our worldwide network of alumni.
Schulich seeks individuals who are
natural leaders, who are innovative and entrepreneurial in nature
and who will make a difference in the world of business.
