    The Japan Translation Federation (JTF) will hold its annual Translation Forum near Tokyo Station on the afternoon of October 7, 2004.(The program will be conducted mainly in JAPANESE.) Presenters include Greg Irwin, performer of traditional Japanese songs in English; Hatanaka Nobutoshi of Canon Inc., and a panel of professional translators, translation company owners and corporate translation buyers, who will discuss the requirements of quality, speed and cost in today’s commercial translation market.     Every year during the first week of November, The Banff Center in Banff, Canada holds a film festival based on the themes of mountains, adventure and outdoor sports. Films and videos from around the world are shown and rated in a competition. For the first time, this year the films to be shown in Japan will have subtitles in Japanese.
